An excellent example of a mid 19thc Brass Snuff Box, engraved with barley, hops, wine glass and a jug....it belonged to W. Elsmore and is dated 1858....note the quality of the hinge....it is stamped with the makers mark W. Howe, Wolverhampton.....interestingly this is the second Brass Snuff Box by the maker W.Howe of Wolverhampton I have bought in the last month....see the archive for the other example which is also dated 1858 and with the same decoration, I guess the engraver bought the bought the boxes already decorated and all he had to do was put the date and name on....
