Code: MS 7417
A rare example of the "Green Man" who was a Pagan symbol representing spring and fertility....it is carved out of what looks like sandstone and has been worked on two sides, so it is angular and has probably come from a historical building such as a church, castle or manor house...in excellent condition with a pleasing expression and good size.
English. C15thc /16thc. Provenance of a private collection.
