Probably the best example I have had of these very collectable pieces of treen...it dates from the last quarter of the 18thc and is known as a "Sussex log" bowl, named after a lot of similar bowls were found in a Sussex Farmhose....it is made from the end piece of an elm log, so this bowl is a 2.74" horizontal slice of the tree and the eating surface is on the end grain....it is in excellent "used" condition with a wonderful patina....
