A fine Georgian example of these very collectable small bowls....turned out of lignum vitae which was used because it is a very dense wood and has excellent stability..... they are known as "wool" bowls, because the wool was placed in the bowl which has a smooth interior to stop it unwinding ....it has a superb colour showing clearly the heart and sap wood...... no cracks or chips.
