Good start to New Year..!

Have just got back from Ardingly and Shepton Mallet Fairs last week, which were back to back, so not much time for a breather....I went to Ardingly with no great expectations, but still with optimism and I wasn't disappointed.....first off was a good sale to the trade of an early 15thc oak ceiling boss from Somerset...it sold well and a few minutes later followed up with another trade sale (good to see the trade buying with confidence) of an impressive 19thc "Horses" Head Communial Snuff Box, provenance of a 19thc Tavern in Newmarket....interesting to see where it will end up being sold...and for how much..!  more sales followed and it was a good fair, considering the weather and the uncertain political climate.

Then straight down to Somerset to the Shepton Mallet Fair, which is always an enjoyable three days....and this one did not disappoint ...I sold a good quality Yew Wood Windsor Chair and a super small Welsh Elm Side Table....this was followed by good sales of Treen to collectors and I mananged to buy one of the best Cromwellian Candlesticks I have seen in a long term and sell it straight away to a collector, before I could even put it on my website..!...one of my favourite purchases was the rare small 17thc/18thc Oak Open low Dresser, which is on my website......all in all another good fair....lets hope it will carry on...

See you somewhere at a fair near you...

Mark.
