Hard Builth, Shepton & Newark Shine,... Holkham Wins!

Tuesday 22nd October 2019 at 19:44

So off to Builth Wells in Wales, back at the beginning of September....it was my second trip to the Showground and the weather was set fair....but sadly not the punters...! a real lack of interest and customers...I only sold to customers I already knew, who I would have seen at the NEC in November....so it was an easy decision to not come back for anymore punishment..!

A week later it was down to do the IACF Fair at Shepton Mallet and first off was a superb find of an early Elizabethan Oak Plank Coffer....I bought it at around 7.30am and it was sold by 9.30am...a lovely start, followed by good sales which went on for the whole weekend...so nice to have a good fair ..!

On October 10th-11th, it was another IACF Fair at Newark....I purchased a rare Brass 18thc "pierced" Candle Snuffer and Stand early on and the sales poured in all day peaking in the afternoon with the sale of a Charles 1 Oak Joyned Stool....I had a target figure for the two days and was thrilled to have gone through it on the first day....the second day a few more sales which all culminated in a very good two days..!

Finally it was off to Holkham Hall in Norfolk for the annual Antiques Fair (18th - 20th October) in the newly refurbished Exhibition Hall....a grand setting and the first day started with a lovely purchase of a late 18thc Oak & Pine Cricket Table ....stunning colour and size (see website)...the sales were a little down on the first day, but steadily increased the next two days and by the last day on Sunday I had cleared costs and made a wage...!

Off to Shepton & Ardingly at the beginning of November ( 5th to the10th inclusive) so watch this space......I am off to upload some very nice stock onto the website...see you soon.
