A rare opportunity to buy this fine example of a mid 17thc brass "trumpet" base ribbed candlestick....it only stands 5" tall and has a very simple ribbed form with an unusual centre disc knop and also an early form of pusher to eject the candle....I have shown this to a very experienced dealer in metalware and like me we both think it is original to the candlestick....it was made in the reign of Charles 11...it has gained a lovely mellow natural colour to the brass and is in excellent unrestored condition, hence the verdigris on the base...which could be removed , but is part of its natural age.....provenance of a good dealers collection...
