An excellent example of an early 19thc "low" bench / table....ideal as a coffee table and difficult to know what the original use would have been for this table....usually they were known as "pig" benches, where the slaughtered animal was cut up....but this bench has never been used for anything like that, as there are no customary knife marks, that you always find on pig benches....so probably started life as a very nice low table / bench in some rural property....it is made out of finely figured quarter sawn oak and has attractive chamfered legs....it is in very good condition with a fine colour and would compliment any country property...
