A beautifully made early 19thc Scottish drinking vessel known as a bicker....it is made from sycamore and alder....the alder is put in to peat to get the deep colour. I always admire the skill of the maker as he / she has "feathered" the alder to make it water tight....a skill that is sadly dying out....the whole vessel is then bound in willow and just to top all this off there is a diamond pattern set into the base....very good colour and in excellent condition.
Scottish. C1820-40.
