A superb 19thc wooden carved sitting Hare Inkwell and Quill / Pen Holder....lovely carved definition and colour...this is the first of its type I have seen, usually they are carved in the form of a Squirrel, or Bear.....it would have had a ceramic pot inside, but although missing it takes nothing away from this desirable object. 

Austrian / German.  C1860-80.
