A well made mid 19thc Ash coopered drinking vessel known as a Costral, or down in Somerset, where this one was found, they are known as Firkins...they were used for cider and other drinks, usually for the farm worker to take with him when he worked the fields....this one is in original condition, banded in iron, it has a good natural colour...
