A beautiful early 15thc carved section of oak possibly from a rood screen also known as a choir screen or chancel screen, which is a common feature in late medieval churches although usually the screen would be made of open tracery , so this is probably from a medieval panelled room in a grand house of the time....it is carved in the early english style of oak leaves and central acorn....in lovely unpolished condition and it still has traces of the original "gold leaf" paint..!
