A lovely example of a brass and fruitwood snuff box described as a "miser" snuff, because the owner decides how much snuff  he would like you to have by the amount he opens the top....if he liked you, two holes would be opened, so you were able to have a good pinch of snuff or if he wasn't that keen on you only one hole would be opened....
