A finely made early 19thc brass jack-rack or chimney crane, used for hanging pots or kettles in front of the hearth...the back plate was screwed into the wall and the kettle or pot could be easily adjusted by moving it along the arm....in order to fix the arm in the correct position it was swung to the desired angle and then lowered, which locks it in place.....very good condition.
English. C1820-40.
