A very fine 19thc brass & mahogany gentleman's desk seal matrix....it has a family crest engraved on the end featuring an axe bearing lion, surmounting a shield, bearing another lion...it is further decorated with horizontal hatching and even has an engraved motto "Nil Desperandum"....very appropriate in these times...!
